I was sitting in our staff meeting today (not planning to play any real part of it) and needed to strongly communicate the need for intentionality in tending the flock and serving God.
It's such a simple concept and something I think we take for granted. After a while, over the years, most of what we do for God in life and in church becomes "just what we do", rather than intentionally needing to go the extra mile to make a big difference.
Making a difference is very important to me, as I know it is for you. We cannot make that kind of difference, without being intentional.
Bake a batch of cookies for your neighbor and invite them to church
Instead of sitting on the couch tonight, go to a nursing home and visit someone who is alone
most of the time
Play catch or shoot baskets with your kid
Do the dishes after dinner
Read through the New Testament this month
Volunteer to serve during one of the services at church
I think the world is very winnable, if the church were intentional with how we serve God, reach the lost, and tend the flock.
Stay strong,
PB
